🌲 Valley Zones & Terrain Types
Mabutts Valley is divided into 5 distinct terrain zones, each with unique challenges and resources:
Zone 1: Forest Entry (0-15%)
EASYDescription: The safest section. Use this area to collect initial resources and learn RV handling. Plentiful engine oil spawns near the starting cabin and along the forest paths.
Zone 2: Rocky Valley (15-35%)
MEDIUMDescription: Challenging terrain begins. Navigate carefully around rocks to avoid RV damage. The famous Bridge Jump shortcut is at CP #3 (can save 5-15 minutes). Watch for snakes near water crossings.
Zone 3: Bear Territory (35-60%)
DANGEROUSDescription: The most dangerous zone! Bears patrol heavily between CP #5 and CP #6. Do NOT stop unless absolutely necessary. If spotted by a bear, run to the nearest bridge (bears won't cross) or use bear spray if available.
- • Keep engine running at all times
- • Have EpiPen ready for downed teammates
- • Move quickly between trees for cover
- • Prioritize reaching CP #6 cabin over looting
Zone 4: Marshlands (60-85%)
MEDIUM-HARDDescription: Multiple water crossings and muddy terrain. RV can easily get stuck in deep mud—use the winch frequently. Snakes spawn randomly near water edges (100% fatal if bitten without antidote). Keep Antidote in quick access slot.
Zone 5: Final Stretch (85-100%)
EASYDescription: You made it! The final stretch is a paved road leading to your home. No threats, easy driving. Just drive forward to complete the journey. Watch the celebration cutscene!

💡 Pro Tip: Checkpoint #6 (Midpoint Cabin) is the most important checkpoint. It's the last safe area before the dangerous Marshlands. Repair your RV, stock up on resources, and ensure all team members are healthy before continuing.
⚡ Shortcuts & Optimal Routes
There are 3 major shortcuts in Mabutts Valley that can save significant time:
Shortcut #1: Bridge Jump
ADVANCEDHow to Execute: At the wooden bridge (CP #3), accelerate to 3rd gear and jump across the ravine, landing on the opposite hillside. This skips the winding road through Rocky Valley. Third gear is mandatory—lower gears won't provide enough momentum.
- • Full engine health (repair before jumping)
- • Minimum 60% RV health
- • Exactly 3rd gear when hitting the jump
- • Straight approach (no angle)
Shortcut #2: Forest Bypass
MEDIUMHow to Execute: Instead of following the main forest path, take the narrow trail to the right after the starting area. This path cuts through dense trees but is faster. Navigate carefully between trees—hitting them at high speed causes minor RV damage.
Shortcut #3: Marsh Diagonal Cut
MEDIUM-HARDHow to Execute: At Swamp Center (CP #8), instead of following the curved path around Snake Lake, drive diagonally across the shallow water to CP #9. This saves time but increases snake encounter risk. Keep Antidote ready and move quickly.
Optimal Route (All Shortcuts)
Using all three shortcuts, experienced players can complete Mabutts Valley in 45-50 minutes (vs. 90-120 minutes standard route). This is the preferred speedrun route.

💡 Navigation Tips & Best Practices
1️⃣ Checkpoint-to-Checkpoint Planning
Always plan your route from one checkpoint to the next. Know where your next save point is before leaving the current one. If low on resources, backtrack to a previous checkpoint area to scavenge.
- • Check engine health before leaving checkpoints
- • Stock up at CP #2 and CP #6 (cabins)
- • Don't skip CP #6—last safe area before marshes
2️⃣ Terrain-Specific Driving
Adjust your driving style based on terrain type. Each zone requires different techniques for optimal navigation and RV preservation.
- • Forest: Moderate speed, avoid tree collisions
- • Rocky: Slow speed, careful steering
- • Marshes: Maintain momentum, use winch often
3️⃣ Danger Zone Awareness
Know where wildlife threats spawn and plan accordingly. Different zones have different primary threats that require specific countermeasures.
- • Bears: Zone 3 (CP #5-#6) - Stay in RV, move fast
- • Snakes: Zone 4 near water - Keep Antidote ready
- • Eagles: Zone 1-2 forests - Rare, less dangerous
4️⃣ Team Coordination (Multiplayer)
In multiplayer, assign roles and communicate checkpoint plans. Use voice chat to coordinate resource collection and danger responses.
- • Driver: Focus on navigation and RV control
- • Scout: Exit RV to gather resources quickly
- • Lookout: Watch for wildlife threats
- • Medic: Hold EpiPen, manage healing items
